FAQS

I'VE HAD MY BROWS DONE BEFORE, CAN YOU HELP?

At IA Brows & Beauty there are 2 options available to clients who have pre-existing work on their brows which they are dissatisfied with:

1. Brow colour lifting/removal -

Please find more information on this further down this page.

2. Ombré brow correction -

In order to be a suitable candidate for correction, your old brows must have faded substantially.

Ombré brow correction involves, but is not limited to; amending the shape/colour/style of the previous brows where possible to conceal the old faded work with new Ombré. ALL Ombré brow correction is an additional flat fee of £30!

To check whether you are a suitable candidate for Ombre correction, please send CLEAR PICTURES (good lighting & good angles) of your bare brows for assessment to info@iabrows.com BEFORE you book an appointment!

FYI - I do not do touch ups/colour boosts etc. on work that isn't mine.

WHAT ARE PMU BROWS?

Permanent make-up brows are the solution to problematic and time consuming eyebrows. This brow procedure involves using either a blade or needle to deposit pigment (cosmetic ink) into the skin, which can last up to a few years for most people. PMU brows is cosmetic tattooing.

WHAT IS THE OMBRE BROW TECHNIQUE?

Ombré Brows is a cosmetic tattooing technique which creates a soft yet well defined brow.

It emulates the look of powdery brow pencil/makeup. The Ombré Brow technique consists of a softer pigment colour at the front of the brow and slowly increases the gradient to produce a darker colour at the tail of the brow. A needle is used to deposit the pigment.

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a cosmetic semi permanent brow technique that is used to create the illusion of a fuller brow by using a bladed tool to 'draw' hair like strokes. The results are minimalistic and can look quite natural.

IS IT PAINFUL?

There are a few minutes of discomfort - not pain - but the majority of the appointment is totally numb.

OMBRE BROWS OR MICROBLADING?

The Ombré technique is less invasive and less painful than Microblading.

Ombré brows generally last longer and works better than Microblading for people of colour.

The Microblading technique will emulate a 'hair-stroke' look. There are no 'hair-strokes' with Ombré Brows, just powdery shading.

Ombré brows works for ALL skin types, whereas Microblading works best on DRY or normal skin.

Ombré brows are created with a needle machine that gently grazes the skin. Microblading involves using a blade to cut the skin.

WILL I STILL NEED TO PUT MAKEUP ON MY BROWS AFTER I DO THEM?

Once your brows are completed (after the 6-12 week retouch if necessary) you should not need to fill them in with pencil on a day to day basis, as Ombré brows will give you a powdery pencilled in look already.

However, PMU brows are meant to be MINIMAL maintenance not NO maintenance, so when wearing a full face of makeup you may find that you will want to fill in your brows to make them bolder, or apply some concealer underneath them to make them pop. Foundation adds a new layer to your skin and PMU brows cannot compete with this flawless artificial layer.

HOW LONG CAN THESE BROWS LAST?

Ombré brows can last up to 36 months (or longer), and Microblading can last up to 24 months dependant on lifestyle, skin type and aftercare. A 6-12 week retouch and annual touch ups are recommended to retain the colour and prevent premature fading.

IS A 6-12 WEEK RETOUCH MANDATORY?

This retouch is not mandatory. Approximately 45% of my clients find that they do not require the initial retouch once their brows have healed. Most clients who do come back only require minor work i.e. a colour boost, or filling in small patches/gaps in the brows. It is best to come back after 8 weeks minimum in order to give the brows enough time to finish healing. All retouches are an additional fee.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

3 - 4 hours long, dependant on the brow style and other factors.

The general composition of a PMU brow 1st session is: Consultation & Brow Mapping; 2 hours, Numbing Cream/Tattooing Process; 1-2 hours.

The 6-12 week retouch appointment is a 1.5 hour session.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY  APPOINTMENT?

Important pre-care information relating to your appointment is available to read by following the link below and selecting the treatment you are having. It is essential to follow this advice so you can get the best results! https://www.iabrows.com/services

I'VE PREVIOUSLY HAD MICROBLADING WITH YOU, CAN I CONVERT TO OMBRE?

For my existing microblading clients, it is indeed possible to convert your faded microblading to Ombré at your annual touch up. However your old brows will need to have faded quite a bit, for this to be possible. To check eligibility please do send me pictures prior to booking an appointment. All brow conversions is an extra flat fee of £30.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?

Please refer to the 'Aftercare' page

I HAVE VERY OILY SKIN. IS THIS SUITABLE FOR ME?

The Ombré Brow technique  is suggested for those with oily or combination skin.

I HAVE THICK, DARK EYEBROW HAIR. CAN I GET MY BROWS DONE?

You may have some patchy areas, or you may want to enhance your arch or tail, but making Microblading or the Ombré technique blend with thick full dark eyebrow hairs, does not always produce the desired results.

To be sure whether or not PMU brows will work for you, please send clear pictures of your brows prior to booking.

I AM PREGNANT. IS THIS SUITABLE FOR ME?

Unfortunately anyone who is pregnant is not suitable

I HAVE VERY SENSITIVE SKIN. IS THIS SUITABLE FOR ME?

Clients who have sensitive skin can still have PMU brows, however the Ombré technique is more suitable instead of Microblading as the treatment is less invasive. Minor swelling in the brow area after the procedure is expected.

Those with sensitive skin may experience more swelling/bruising after the treatment.

I HAVE HEALTH ISSUES. CAN I HAVE PMU BROWS?

You will need to get a referral from your GP or consultant in order to be considered, if you have one of the following conditions: Abnormal heart condition, palpitations, mitral valve prolapse, heart murmur, rheumatic fever, artificial heart valves, haemophilia, high blood pressure, circulatory problems, epilepsy, thyroid disturbances, kidney disease, stomach ulcers, cancer, stroke, prosthetic hip or joint, hepatitis, pacemaker, anaemia, prolonged bleeding, low blood pressure, diabetes, auto immune system conditions, liver disease, glaucoma, tumours, growths or cysts, tuberculosis, HIV, systemic lupus erythematosus, shingles.

If you have any other type of serious medical illness, or are on medication please get in touch prior to booking.

WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?

Lip blush is a cosmetic tattooing procedure which can enhance or brighten your natural lip colour, correct asymmetry, and add fullness and definition. Imagine waking up in your favourite lipstick everyday! Results vary and are customized for every client.

WHAT IS DARK LIP NEUTRALIZATION?

Dark lip neutralization is a cosmetic tattooing procedure which is used to remove/undo the dark tones in pigmented lips. Dark lip neutralization can lighten your dark lips and give them a neutral/pink colour.

Multiple sessions are required.

LIP TATTOO FAQs?

- If you have excessively wrinkly lips, it is advisable to get fillers before your lip tattoo to allow the pigment to be applied evenly to your lips.

- If you have extremely dark lips (BLACK COLOUR) this treatment may not work for you.

- For dark lip neutralization, your lips will usually look orange or bright red immediately after the procedure, however they will not stay looking like this.

- Exfoliating your lips a few days before your appointment will be beneficial

- Lip tattoo appointments are numbed from the beginning for the clients comfort, however towards the end of your appointment your lips will feel very sore and look very swollen

- Swelling goes down within 1-3 days

- Naturally, younger clients will have better results due to the higher levels of collagen + keratin in the skin

- If you are prone to cold sores, this treatment can trigger a breakout

DO I HAVE TO HAVE A PATCH TEST FIRST?

You can have a patch test prior to your appointment to determine whether you will react to the pigments used. Patch tests must be conducted at least 48 hours before your appointment and are only offered if you have an upcoming appointment scheduled. To arrange a patch test, please get in touch after booking an appointment.

DO YOU DO BROW REMOVAL?

I am a qualified Botched Ink Technician, meaning I can offer a solution to your bad brows! Botched ink is a revolutionary saline solution that can be used to improve, lighten/lift and remove (total removal may not be possible) bad and unwanted microblading and permanent makeup etc. This treatment is especially useful if you are interested in getting some new brows but your previous work is proving to be an undesirable canvas.

HOW DOES BOTCHED INK BROW LIGHTENING/REMOVAL WORK?

Botched Ink works by extracting pigment and bringing it up to the surface of your skin, allowing it to be easily removed. The complete removal of unwanted pigmentation is not something that can be achieved in just one session alone, if at all. It is advised that clients commit to a minimum of 3- 6 sessions, particularly if your existing brow work is very old - the newer your brows are, the easier and quicker they will be to lighten. Clients must wait 8 weeks between each session to ensure that the skin is fully healed, as this will prevent scarring and further damage to the brows. *If you are allergic to Aloe Vera unfortunately this treatment will not be suitable for you.
